It was created by two women who have worked with hundreds of survivors of violence and are passionate about keeping your daughters safe.

Meet The Brave Project Team

THIS IS LAURA

In 1998, one of the 3 jobs I had at the time involved working as a Peer Counselor at a domestic violence shelter. It was the lowest paying of the 3 jobs but the most rewarding. Because of that job, for the next decade, I would go on to work at two more social service agencies, serving victims of crime in courtrooms, emergency rooms, and even classrooms. The majority of these victims were overwhelmingly female. It was this work that has made me so passionate about creating a culture in which girls can lead safe, happy, and healthy lives. And it’s the reason The Brave Project was born.

I started my company, Be Big Be Brave LLC, with the intention of disrupting the status quo and creating unique programs that empower and inspire kids to be their big, brave selves!

I hold a master’s degree in Social Work and when I’m not running my flag football empowerment program for girls (and boys), I work as a School Social Worker and Mom to a son and two daughters. Leah and I are beyond excited to have your daughters join us on this Brave journey!

THIS IS LEAH

I have been working to empower women whose lives have been affected by violence for over 10 years. I’ve provided direct services to victims and lectured to numerous audiences about issues impacting women, as well as participated in advocacy efforts to promote safety and support for women. I am passionate about creating a culture where girls will grow up to become strong, bold, able, and fearless women.

Women as leaders is a huge passion of mine. I have a certificate in Leadership Coaching through the Leadership Practices Inventory and have a devoted interest in leadership coaching and development for women and young professionals. I am a certified fitness coach, professional fitness competitor, and Girls on Guard self-defense instructor. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Public Administration. I am the proud and loving owner of a very large canine. I can’t wait to bring the Brave Project to your daughters and the world!
